**Polkadot is a blockchain** that provides unprecedented economic scalability by enabling a common set of validators to secure multiple blockchains. Polkadot provides transactional scalability by spreading transactions across multiple parallel blockchains. The full story can be found here: <https://www.polkadot.network/>

This charm is maintained by Dwellir, <https://dwellir.com> - Infrastructure provider for blockchain and web3.

**The charm manages the polkadot software lifecycle** E.g. installation, configuring, upgrading, operations & monitoring over time.

The charm starts the Polkadot client as a service, taking startup arguments from */etc/default/polkadot* as set by the juju config *service-args*.

The Polkadot client itself is downloaded and installed from the charm config *binary-url*. See: <https://github.com/paritytech/polkadot/> for available releases.

* The charm is capable of running all polkadot parachains by setting the service-args.
* Juju actions & configs are available to let the charm act as bootnode, validator, collator or rpc.
